A Shop and a Mission

The Sunbeam Board is a volunteer group that supports the work of Vocational Guidance Services, a Cleveland non-profit organization that provides assessment, training, life skills and job placement services to individuals with disabilities and disadvantages.

Sunbeam started in 1890 when a small group of girls became determined to help make bed bound children at a local hospital more comfortable. Over the past 120 years their vision has been extended to helping thousands of people with barriers to increase self sufficiency and create a brighter future for them and their families through employment focused services.

Today’s Sunbeam Board members continue the legacy began so many years ago by raising awareness of Vocational Guidance Services and providing financial support through fundraising events, activities and the Sunbeam Shop, a children’s store whose proceeds help support the VGS mission.  Among the events hosted by the Sunbeam Board is the annual Sunbeam Holiday Boutique which debuted in 1911 making it one of the longest running fundraising events in Cleveland.

It’s easy to join Sunbeam in making a lasting positive impact on the lives of thousands of Ohioans each year. By attending the fun and exciting Fiesta on 55th fundraising, visiting the Sunbeam Holiday Boutique or by making a purchase at the Sunbeam Shop, which offers high-quality unique children’s clothing, accessories and toys your support will have the potential to help others achieve self sufficiency. In the near future you’ll even have the ability to purchase items online, which will provide real-time paid work experience for individuals with developmental disabilities supervised by caring and detail oriented staff.
